Sermon

Perfection speaks of adoption. Third Exodus There were three stages of the journey: 1: Israel leaving Egypt
2: Israel in the wilderness
3: Israel in the promised land
A man passes through 3 stages also: Justification, Sanctification and Baptism of the Holy Ghost. But there is a 4th stage! After Israel entered the promised land they had a Joshua to dived the inheritance. This is the Adoption stage. When we are in Christ Jesus we have access to everything that he died for. As many as received Him gave He power to be sons and daughters.

When Christ was born three wise men from the east came with three gifts: Gold, frankincense and myrrh. Gold speaks of Deity, Frankincense, service and myrrh death. So the prophecy was “Deity in service to die”

The great warrior David para 2. Bethlehem means 'house of God's bread'. Bethlehem speaks of redemption. David knew the Lord was with him. We need men and women who know their position in the Lord Jesus Christ. We have got Goliaths but we still have got Davids. We are not ignorant of the devil's devices. When the devil is boasting we need some Davids. David knew where he was standing that is why he realized that Goliath was despising God and not Israel. He could look back and see how God had worked with him with the bear (little temptetions) and the lion (larger temptations). He was looking at the promise. There is no promise outside Bethlehem. Elimelek left Bethlehem because of famine, but God had said you are not protected when you are not in Israel. Elimelek had trouble in Moab, he and his two sons died.

To be called an overcomer, you must have engaged in a battle. Gideon said, if God be for us where are His miracles. You can measure your Christianity by the temptations you overcome. David had a testimony of killing a bear and a lion. A lion is stronger than a bear. Temptations grow bigger.

The Bible is a book of redemption. You must be able to identify yourself in the quotations of the bible. You are a Christian by God's desire. You were elected before the foundation of the world. His thoughts were you and me. To know that God foreknew us before the foundation of the world brings peace through trials and battles.

Romans 8 v 29. You cannot be like the Lord Jesus Christ unless you are perfect. I Peter 1 v 1-2. God's election made you to come to Him. Samuel thought it was Eli calling him. David before anything happened he knew God was with him because his whole heart beat after God. Psalm 48. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever para 38. Moses was born a prophet to fulfill the prophecy given to Abraham. We came to this world with a promised word which we are supposed to fulfill. Your repentance is responding to the pull of your Theophany. Adoption para 106. Election looks back o foreknowledge and predestination looks at destiny. David not worried when the bear and the lion came because he was looking to God. Israel and the Church para 49. God called you before you became a Christian. You did not become a Christian by coincidence. You are retracing your footsteps.

Revelation is a realization, an awakening. When the prodigal son realized who he was, he said, I will arise. God gives you the Holy Ghost as a sign, like he gave Abraham the sign of circumcision. Every David is positionally placed in the Lord Jesus Christ. Challenge the Goliath in your life.
