The Prophet William Marrion Branham

Biblical Background

The Word of God teaches in John 4:24 that God is a Spirit. In the same line of thought, the verse lays down the requirements for one to relate with this Supreme Being; and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. That leaves no room for one to doubt the supernatural character of God.

In Genesis 1: 26 God says; let us make man in our image, after our likeness... Now we can bring the two thoughts together and consider the kind of man God created in the first place. In John 4:24 we are told that God is a Spirit and in Genesis 1:26 we are clearly told that man was created in the image and likeness of God. Therefore Adam was a spirit-man. It also reveals the fact that the fellowship Adam had with God in the cool of the day was actually done in the realm of the supernatural. In the Genesis account we therefore find a supernatural God communing with a supernatural man.

Then comes The Fall in Genesis 3 through guile of the serpent. If Adam really fell, the question is; From what point to which point? The man Adam fell from the supernatural likeness of God to the likeness of animals. He lost the prefix super and remained just a natural man. He fell from the dimension of the Spirit to the realm of flesh. He scrambled for cover in the trees of the garden in an act of apparent identification with the lower order animal kingdom. God started to call for man to come back to that realm of the supernatural where fellowship is done.

Man could not climb up to God in his fallen state. He could not commune with God in the spiritual realm. The only way for fellowship to take place was for God to come down to the level of man and work out a redemption plan. This is exactly what God did. He condescended in taking the nature of sinful flesh in Jesus Christ. Ever since The Fall, God has been trying to call man back to fellowship once again. And this is how he does it; he takes up the veil of flesh and hides behind it.

In Noah, it was God coming down in flesh to reconcile man to Himself. In Abraham again it was God in flesh sojourning towards that city of the supernatural. In Elijah, it was God in flesh pointing a mortal finger to the spiritual way back. In John the Baptist it was God himself pointing to a new Covenant for fellowship. In Jesus Christ he was rightfully called Emmanuel, meaning God with us. In all these cases and numerous others in the Bible, the supernatural trail of God was always present.

In our day, God continued his work under the cloak of human flesh. He came clothed in the veil of the prophet William Marrion Branham. From Mary He borrowed the womb and from Joseph of Arimathea he borrowed the grave; signifying that the start and end of His ministry is always in the flesh of man. This is what he did in our precious brother William Branham.

Using Man as an instrument has always been God's favourite way to close the chasm between Him and fallen man. Yet people have always refused to heed God's provided Way. In Exodus 20 God comes down to commune face to face with the children of Israel at Mount Sinai. Yet when the God of Heaven descends upon the mountain in the power of His glory, the mountain shakes. His booming Voice sounds like thunder in the ears of the people and the people tremble. No one has the courage to face such a "frightening" God. And these are the words which the people spoke to Moses in verse 19;

Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

That a man should speak on behalf of God on earth is the provided way for us. God honoured that realization by children of Israel that the Almighty speaks to man through the instrumentality of a prophet.

A Prophet's Rejection in the Old Testament

Yet despite the vindication, for instance, that Moses was God's prophet, the people continued to rebel against him. Some of them even said;

You take too much upon yourself.

Elijah was rejected in the same way. He even thought he was the only one left in all Israel. We have been taught that spirits do not die but just change the horses they ride on as happens in the book of Revelations Chapter 6 where the same devil rides the white horse then switches to the red one and then comes back on the black one and on and on till he sits astraddle the pale horse. True enough, the critical spirits that withstood Moses in his days have come back riding on the pale horse of theology. They are rejecting the reality of Bible days.

End Time Prophetic Vindication

Like the prophets of old, Brother William Marrion Branham has come and gone. Yet his voice is here with us as THE VOICE OF GOD in our day. That is why the scripture in Revelations 10:7 says in the days of the voice of the seventh angel. We are in those days. God has stored the Voice on magnetic tape. It was not a man speaking, but God in a man. This prophet in his ministry spoke under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost the Holy Oracles of God. He had THUS SAITH THE LORD. All that he said under prophetic utterance came to pass just as exactly as he said it would happen. He was fulfilling Malachi 4:5 (Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD)

It is universally acknowledged that there has never been, since Bible days, a ministry as great and supernatural as the ministry of William Marrion Branham. In revelation of the Word, all cemeteries, sorry, Seminaries and Bible Colleges are dwarfed under the towering shadow of the revelation of the mysteries of God as laid out in Revelations 10:7. The prophet William Marrion Branham is unparalleled in revelation. In manifestation of the power of God he is unequaled. In humility he is unexampled. When he stood on the religious scene in 1946 in the United States, his ministry sparked a sweeping revival of divine healing that spread outward to all the uttermost parts of the earth. He is known as the father and pacesetter of the 1950s healing revival that gave birth to the Charismatic Movement.

For twenty years, and before millions of people, the prophet William Branham baffled the faithless generation of the end time by the demonstration of the Gift of Discernment and the Word of Knowledge. He could go backward in time in the life of a person and pick up some unconfessed sin or event associated with the present circumstances of the afflicted individual. A classic case is the trip made in the life of Congressman Willie Upshaw. The prophet traveled some 66years back into the life of Willie Upshaw, past the barrier of the 19th Century, and came back into the 20th Century and told him of an accident that had happened when the Congressman was a young man of 18 years. All this was told in a split second while standing at the platform in the 1950s.

His healing ministry was spectacular, with electrical signals running up and down his hand detecting the manner of disease afflicting an individual. He could dream dreams and interpret them. Uneducated and illiterate as he was, God loved him and entrusted him with the salvation of the entire end time generation. The seventh grade education that he received was just one landmark in God's numerology that pointed to the seven steps that the believer must climb to attain the stature of a perfect man. It pointed to the revelation of the seven seals. It spoke of the exposition of the seven church ages. It foretold the revelation of the seven church age messengers under Revelations 10:7. It telescoped the seventh day of rest, the true Sabbath of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. Those opposed to his Biblical and Scriptural identification as the Prophet of the End Time agree that he was truly gifted of God.

End Time Prophetic Betrayal and Rejection

Yet they point a condemning finger that he should have majored in divine healing only. Yet a prophet is sent with the Word of God. When he stood and opened up the Word, they forsook him in the same way that the seventy forsook the Lord Jesus Christ when Peter finally said to whom shall we go? They do not understand spiritual things that behind a sign is a voice. They were happy with the signs but refused the voice behind the sign. It was Matthew 17:11 being fulfilled: "And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things."

Brother Branham came to restore the Word.

Why it had to be Brother William Marrion Branham

The man William Marrion Branham was a prophet of God. At the same time, the man referred to in Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD (Malachi 4:5) has to have a prophetic ministry too.

The supernatural attended William Branham's birth. Only some 15 minutes after being born, a ball of fire darted through the window and circled around the young child and his mother. Soon, a snow white dove landed on the same window sill and looked at the baby and cooed before flying away. At three years old the little boy watched a robin sing gleefully from a tree. When the bird flew away he heard a human voice tell him; you shall live near a city called New Albany. At seven years old he heard a voice say unto him; Don't ever drink, or smoke, or defile your body in any way. There will be a work for you to do when you get older. It was the Angel of the Lord talking to him. Only a fortnight after, he saw a vision of 16 men falling to death into the Ohio River from some bridge under construction. This vision was fulfilled 22 years later when the Municipal Bridge was built. At a baptismal service on the Ohio river, a star appeared and a voice spoke to him saying; As John the Baptist was sent to forerun the first coming of Christ, so are you sent to forerun his second coming. That happened before a crowd of people and the Jefferson Evening News carried a story; Mysterious Star Appears Over Minister While Baptising. God was confirming the commission of the prophet William Branham to our day as the ultimate Voice of God.

At 14 years he went to hell and saw the immoral dressing of modern woman and heard their murmuring talk. Some 10 years later on Sunday, June 11 1933 God showed him a series of visions of what was to take place in the entire world. God showed him the rise and fall of Mussolini. He also showed him the ascension of Hitler to power in Germany and his subsequent mysterious end. He was shown the three major political ideologies that would shake the world: Fascism, Nazism and Communism. God also showed him an egg-shaped car which would operate by remote control. He saw the nakedness of modern day women. God warned him of the rise of a beautiful and powerful woman in the United States of America and, finally, God showed him the destruction of America.

All the visions he had were THUS SAITH THE LORD. The have come to pass, and pending ones shall equally come to pass. He preached the old time religion of the Pentecostal fathers. He opened the Word and revealed the hidden mysteries of God. He saw what happened in the Garden of Eden and what shall happen in glory. He saw the thoughts of God even before the foundation of the world was laid down. He was always in line with the Scripture. Like Elijah of old, he harped hard against the Jezebel religion of the modern day generation. Like John the Baptist, he condemned immoral marital relationships. All that he said and preached can be traced back to the Scriptures. He lived the Word. The same Word was vindicated in his life.

There was a reason why God chose William Branham to be His Voice to this generation. His illiteracy placed him on a vantage point for use in the Hand of God. For here was a man that would not lean on his own understanding, a man that would wait upon inspiration, a man whose mind has not been shaped and deformed by creeds and dogmas, a man who has not gone through the process that leaves a believer twice a child of hell than when he first begins; above all, it was a man without ambitions and agendas.

His name has very strong Hebrew connotations. It is just a play back of the letters involved in constructing the name of our father of faith, Abraham. It contains the word RAHM, which in the Hebrew signifies the womb or the bowels as the seat of compassion. In the language of the Hindus, their Supreme god is called Brahma. He is the silent god who is unreachable and has to be worshipped in silence. But the prophet came to prove in India that the Supreme God is alive. The people that belong to the Indian caste of the Brahmins claim that they alone come from the very mouth of Brahma while other people came from the toes and feet. Indeed, the prophet William Marrion Branham is the mouth of God in the end time.
