Building Eastlea Tabernacle - The Sanctuary
The Building Project - Reports.
June 2008 Building Report - With Pictures
Much construction work for the super-structure has already been accomplished. The Tabernacle is now habitable and we have entered the ‘finishing touches’ stage. However, the cost of the remaining works is still huge and staggering. But the faith in the congregation is growing by day. Every Sunday a large drum - yes I mean a 200 Litre drum is used to collect an offering for the construction work...more
October 2007 Building Report
Work on site is continuing unabated. Despite all the challenges, the Lord has kept the work on site in progress. Like the singer who said: "The Cloud of Glory is Moving, Move with the Cloud", those who are moving with the Cloud are seeing God in operation. Once the acquisition of the tiling is completed, the work on the floor will begin. This will set the tone on the time frames in terms of when brethren can start utilising the Tabernacle for the services. Please see the Tabernacle Photo Gallery for a pictorial display of the progress that has been made.
July 2007 Building Project Update.t
Stone By Stone, the Eastlea Tabernacle...
Another amalekite has been overcome. Tuesday the 3rd of July 2007 saw a total of 317kg (12 rolls) of Aluminium Natural/PVC Butterfly arriving on the church site from Johannesburg, South Africa through a Freight Agent. The aluminium will be used for office door frames as well as the window frames for the Tabernacle. This alone was a great stride that the church made as the amalekite was defying all instructions to move until the "knee-ology machine gun" was used. There are also plans on the ground to embark on the floor work as soon as the brickwork is complete.
Asked for comment, the building contractor Brother Ray Kadiwa said that as soon as the electrical cabling is delivered, then the electrical work will commence forthwith. The ceiling work will only commence once a decision is made on which type of ceiling to put. With all these, it is just a matter of time before the Eastlea Tabernacle is complete.
June 2007 - Window Frame Pledge
"Goliath's head has fallen" were the words which brought joy into the hearts of many as we discovered that the Window Frame Pledge issue is now a thing of the past. Mr. Chairman passed his gratitude to the congregation and all brethren who fought tooth and nail to bring the 'Window Frame Giant' down.
After a few modifications were done and number of the required window frames reduced, we were supposed to pay Radar Metal industries a total of about ZW$110million. Of this amount about ZW$90million was raised through pledges in church and a balance of about ZW$20million was outstanding. One Brother just came forward and said "take the burden off the church and put it upon my shoulders; but tell the vision to no man".
Yes! The window frame pledge is now a thing of the past but giants are still coming. We should be ready to run and confront them like David. Our next tasks are to finish up the floor and to fix the ceiling. The building committee is in the process of costing the required material.
May God bless you all for your prayers and sacrifices.
